How does a Leap Year work?
A Leap Year adds one extra day (February 29) to the calendar to keep it synchronized with the astronomical year. This calculator uses the precise Gregorian calendar rules:
- The year must be evenly divisible by 4.
- If it can be divided by 100, it is NOT a leap year, UNLESS...
- The year is also evenly divisible by 400.
